Hi, I’m Sasha, a third year student pursuing molecular biology, physiology and biomedical sciences. I believe that UCU is an academic playground with a wide range of opportunities; in my time here I have done a research internship and took off-campus courses, so I can help you tailor your curriculum to your own needs. Reach out to me if you would like to know how to structure your courses, survive your exams or to give feedback about the track!

Hedwich van der Veen

Hi! My name is Hedwich van der Veen (she/her), I am in my second year at UCU and I am the track representative for Cognitive Neuroscience! Besides neuroscience, I am doing a Molecular Cell Biology track and I will hopefully minor in Linguistics and/or Psychology. These fields can all be connected in some way to cognitive neuroscience and this is exactly why I think Cognitive Neuroscience is such an interesting track to follow at UCU. If you have any questions about the track, how to plan your courses within the track or if you would like to give feedback, I will be happy to help you, so please feel free to reach out!

Lara Stegeman

Hi, nice to meet you! I’m Lara (she/her) and I’m excited to be your Track Representative for Medical Sciences ‘23-‘24. My favourite part about medical sciences is learning about the amazing intelligence of life on earth, from a single protein to a whole being. Due to the expansive character of medical science you need to understand & collaborate with the other sciences in order to succeed.

Because of this, the MED courses can feel intimidating or a long way off (since there is no MED level 1) but I’d like to encourage you to take up space in your MED (or lvl 1 prep) classes this year. The medical sciences belong to everyone and we (desperately!) need fresh perspectives.

If you do run into any issues or have suggestions, I am here to listen. Please feel welcome (!!!) to approach me on campus.
